Virtual intelligent web assistants
The Duffolo project was born within my thesis research project in creating an intelligent virtual assistant for the site of the Faculty of Computer Science of Tor Vergata (http://www.informatica.uniroma2.it) to assist and guide the user through the site.
The application is not limited only to respond to user questions in the written form, but it uses a text-to-speech engine to read what he writes.
The system does not just answer to questions but it also guides the user in a dynamic way within the site, by opening pages according to the user’s question.
The presence of a virtual assistant as Duffolo in a site can greatly help the usability. Whether it’s unfamiliar to help users with web browsing, you can use natural language to obtain information from the its content, getting the information they seek more quickly..
Moreover, the presence of a similar product, in addition to providing a cue to the user’s memory in favor of the site, makes the whole product more interactive, increasing the value of the overall enjoyment of the user.
This is a project that I’m currently working on to, considering my interest in the Natural Language Processing, but not in relation to a particular site.
My goal is to create an intelligent system capable of analyzing human behavior, processing, interpreting and answering the same questions provided as input by the user, showing a readiness to respond satisfactorily even in the absence of a clear answer in the knowledge.
What paradigms of interaction you consolidate? The metaphor that appears is the emerging intelligent agent, a secretary and qualified personnel “inside” the website, obedient to our commands and lead us to the vast resources of this system.
This product, generally thought with human sembiances, communicates by voice, in natural language.
And I’m working on this.
